"I'm One in a Million" SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST
California needs 1,000,000 additional college graduates by the year 2025 in order to meet our workforce needs. Each student who successfully completes college is "one in a million." The Campaign for College Opportunity is proud to sponsor the One in a Million scholarship contest. The contest invites all currently enrolled college students in California to: Tell California leaders why you and your peers are one in a million and why they should support college opportunity to help you reach your college dream. A minimum of 20 scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000 will be awarded throughout California.
The contest runs until JUNE 30, 2010.
You may submit one entry per category.
:: WRITTEN WORD::
Submit 400 words (or less) in any written format (essay, letter, poem, story, etc.)
::POSTER::
Create an 11" by 14" poster. Answer the contest question by drawing, painting, computer graphics, or other means of illustrating your message. Please do not use 3D materials.
::TV AD::
Submit a 30-second (or less) TV ad on CD or DVD format only. You may enter this category as an individual or group (up to 4 students). The award will be split among all contributors.

Taiwan Tech Trek 2010
TTT 2010 is an eight-week program beginning late-June. Around 200~250 youths of Taiwanese ancestry aged 18~30 will be recruited from various countries through a selective application process. Interns will participate in a five-day group orientation (June 24~June 28) and thereafter proceed to their designated internship positions throughout Taiwan for seven weeks of internship. With the approval of host institutes and NSC, interns can apply for early commencement or extension of their internships. Interns, however, are responsible for the costs of extra days of their stay in Taiwan. Some hosts may provide interns with subsidies for their extension but it varies from different institutes. Interns shall initiate contact with their host institutes for the details in regard to extension and early commencement. The New York Life 2010 Summer Internship
The New York Life 2010 Summer Internship Application Process has begun and will end on January 22, 2010. All applications must be submitted online following the instructions outlined below. The program provides undergraduate students an opportunity to contribute to our business while exploring career opportunities in New York. There are a limited number of summer intern positions available.
Candidates for the Summer Internship Program must:
o Be entering their junior or senior year at an accredited college or university;
o Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better;
o Have held leadership roles or significantly contributed to campus or community extracurricular activities; and
o Preferably be majoring in Finance, Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Accounting, Computer Science, Communication or Mathematics.
This year, the program begins on Monday, May 24th and ends on Friday, August 13th. Interns will be asked to attend an orientation as well as weekly development sessions and have an opportunity to be coached through a meaningful assignment for the 12 week period. No housing or relocation cost are covered for this twelve week period.
If you are a candidate that you feel would benefit from the Summer Intern Program, but do not fit all the criteria as stated above, the Agency Department may conduct a separate departmental program. Please call to discuss the Summer Intern Program.

Taiwanese American Citizen League Census 2010 Campaign contest
Taiwanese American Citizens League (TACL) is conducting a grant contest to undergraduate and graduate students as a project of the Census 2010 campaign. 3 student groups will be selected to receive a $500 grant to help offset their expenses at an accredited institution. The scholarship is provided by the Taiwanese American Citizens League (TACL) as well as its affiliate, the Taiwanese American Professionals (TAP), and the Taiwan Center. Interested students must submit a complete application and the required documentations. Submissions must be postmarked or e-mailed no later than MONDAY, February 1, 2010.

The Taiwanese American Citizens League (TACL) Summer Political Internship Program established in 1992, places college students in the offices of state and federal elected officials. Interns work to promote Taiwanese culture, heritage and identity while gaining a greater understanding of the American political system through active, hands-on involvement. All college students interested in Taiwanese American issues may also apply.
Interns gain valuable, working knowledge through assignments in political offices located throughout the Greater Los Angeles area, Orange County, San Francisco Bay Area, and Washington DC. In addition to working in their offices, interns visit top legislators in an intense lobbying trip, attend community events, participate in leadership development workshops, and various other activities.
TACL interns also gain access to a network of TACL alumni through our unique mentorship program. Alumni of the TACL Political Internship Program have gone on to become elected officials, Congressional staffers, state and local level government staffers, local business leaders and students in top graduate school programs.
To be considered, the following items must be submitted for review:
1. Completed application form.
2. A typed, double spaced statement of purpose (300-500 words) describing yourself and reasons for your interest in this program.
3. At least one letter of reference. It can be emailed to internship@tacl.org.
4. A copy of your most recent transcript.
5. A resume.

Position openings: 9 - Cambodian, Chinese, Filipino, Korean, Pacific Islander, South Asian, Taiwanese, Vietnamese, Hard to Count Southeast Asians (Hmong, Lao, Cham)
Summary
Interns take on a leadership role in the community in outreaching, educating, and encouraging members of the community to fill out their 2010 Census form. This project is a statewide project with partnering Community Based Organizations whose goals are to outreach towards the "hard-to-count" communities in different regions of California. OCAPICA's role will primarily be in the Orange County region.
Role & Responsibilities
- Assist in coordination of outreach events
- Help conduct outreach at community events
-Help disseminate census materials at events and ethnic businesses
- Serves as the liaison between the specific ethnic community and OCAPICA
- Assist in relations with local ethnic media
- Participate and help coordinate trainings and workshops
- Provide administrative support to the coordinator when needed
- Help create materials for outreaching, if necessary
Minimum Qualifications
-Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, or Asian American Studies major(s) desired
- Bilingual in any of these languages is a plus: Khmer, Cantonese/Mandarin, Tagalog, Korean, Vietnamese, Urdu/Hindi, Samoan/Tongan/Marshellese, Hmong/Lao/Cham
- Honest, hard working and reliable
- High level of attention to detail, solid organizational & interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and within a group
- Effective oral and written communication skills including experience in public speaking
- Computer skills using MS Office and the Internet
- Must have a CA driver's license and good driving record

The Formosa Foundation offers three factors critical to social movements: political opportunity, organizational capacity and framing ability. Through its Ambassador Program the Foundation offers the best hands-on training for students to develop grassroots and campaign skills and to become leaders. The Ambassador Program combines in-house training with on-the-ground activist work. Participants in the Program develop the expertise, analytical framework, and network they need to effectively promote Taiwan. Up-and-coming activists can learn about the issues affecting Taiwan first-hand. The 2010 Program will take place in Washington D.C. June 14- 25, 2010. The Formosa Foundation will provide for participants' training, workshops and housing for the duration of the Program.

The 10th International Youth Culture Camp in Taiwan
Tsunah Foundation -- 2009 International Youth Culture Camp in Taiwan Program (including Scholarship Program) Registration has started!
The Tsunah Foundation has launched its Tenth International Youth Culture Camp in Taiwan program. This is a great opportunity for young International Taiwanese who are at least 18 years old, and were born and/or grew up outside of Taiwan to learn more about Taiwan. The camp also offers scholarship program for the participants who are registering the Tenth Taiwan Culture Camp in December 2009. Registration Deadline is 10/31/2009. FAPA YPG is looking for its new Steering Committee
FAPA YPG (Young Professional Group) strives to advance the rights and interests of Taiwanese communities throughout the world and to provide young proponents of Taiwan with the knowledge and skills necessary for grassroots advocacy on Taiwan's behalf.
Term: November 2009 to October 2010
Job: To organize the annual national conference, publish newsletters, host advocacy workshops and field trips, and maintain the website and our online communities.
