Spring 2010 Quarterly Wrap-up

Last words from the 09-10 president

Dear fellow TAO-ers,

It has been an amazing first year with TAO. In the past year, we've established ourselves as the first Taiwanese American club at UC Irvine, and we have hosted some really amazing events such as the Dumpling Night and Lantern Festival. Besides attending the West Coast ITASA conference, we participated in the AIDS walk as our first kick-off outreach project to our community here in Orange County. We've also had our very first banquet- the Shoot for the Stars, Chapter One banquet- to wrap up this amazing year. I can't tell you how pleased I am with our first year! It hasn't been an easy year setting up a brand new club, but we did our very best and we're very happy to see TAO being taken on by some really talented individuals next year. On behalf our team, I sincerely thank you for supporting TAO and creating this legacy with us. I hope you have enjoyed TAO and will continue to support TAO in any way you can. If you're a graduated senior like me, please check our facebook and websites for updates, internships, and you're always more than welcome to attend all the future TAO events. Have an amazing summer, and the new TAO team will see you in the fall!

Too blessed to be a part of TAO UCI,
Amy

Spring Quarter Spotlight: Chapter One: Shoot for the Stars Banquet

May 27, 2010 marked the last event of TAO’s first year as an established organization at UCI, but it also marked the beginning of an organization that will persevere for many more years to come. As the name of the event suggests “Chapter One: Shoot for the Stars” this is only the first chapter of an endless story.

The banquet took place at Ten Asian Bistro out on one of their patios with a dazzling waterfall promptly at 6:30pm. It was a beautiful night and everyone arrived on time with no complications. We had the great honor of having Charlie Chang perform a few songs for everyone and some were even able to walk away that night with one of his albums. Chang’s performance was followed by an exquisite dinner along with a slideshow of random photos from throughout the year.

After a filling dinner, a video presentation of the entire year’s events to reminisce and recap all the memories of our first year was shown. Amy Lee, the president, William Roberts and Deborah Jow, next year’s presidents, spoke words of inspiration and excitement for this year’s success and next year’s goals. The torch was then passed down to next year’s board members one by one and each was able to speak a few words and introduce their positions. In addition, recognition was given to members through awards that were personally made for each individual.

To close up our memorable banquet night were pictures and an after party that included hookah provided by the restaurant. Lasting friendships and memories were created during TAO’s first year as an organization thanks to Amy Lee.

Remember to join us and create memories of your own!
